For some reason this morning, the newer minecraft launcher wasn't connecting to minecraft, so players couldn't log into Multiplayer servers.
If you still have the older version of the launcher (the one before it gave you the option to update or not), that one still works! Not sure what is going on with Minecraft.net there.
